Catherine Swire on Radio 4 Ramblings

BBC Radio 4 presenter Clare Balding meets Catherine Swire this month in an episode of her popular walking series, Ramblings.

Clare visits Worcestershire to walk the first few miles of the Monarch’s Way, the long distance path which traces the escape route of Charles II following his defeat at the Battle of Worcester in 1651.

Her guide is Malvern-based poet Catherine Swire whose debut collection of poetry Soil was published by The Artel Press in October 2021.

Catherine’s work explores the nature of traumatic events – such as the English civil war, and how their history is etched on our landscape.
